Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Sacramento Affiliate

The Client: The Komen Foundation was founded in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister Susan G. Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36. The Sacramento Valley Affiliate is one of 114 affiliates of the Komen Foundation based in Dallas, Texas. The foundation is a progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer with a network of more than 40,000 volunteers working across the country and in Germany, Greece and Italy.

The Project: The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Sacramento Affiliate utilizes Kintera's Sphere product to manage online and offline donations for the Komen Race for the Cure®. The Sacramento affiliate is unable to remove duplicate records and input all information within Sphere, which is required to produce post race reporting. First Source Consulting exported all 2004 race participants from Sphere and imported the data into an Access database. First Source Consulting wrote algorithms to scrub and add data to produce the Individual Pledge Report and Team Pledge Report. First Source Consulting continues to serve the Sacramento affiliate through a monthly retainer, providing Sphere database management support and desktop support.
